Launching Classes in Hythe

We’ve noticed there is a real thirst amongst our cafe regulars to learn more about specialty coffee, so for 2024 we are launching a series of coffee classes based around tastings and demonstrations. Our goal is to make them short, sharp, sweet, and affordable. They will take place at our Hythe Cafe on Saturdays’ at 11AM and run for approx 45 minutes. We’ve built an extra space behind our dining room to host these classes. Classes will be limited to 6 people, tickets only available online, and in advance, book here. Our classes will not be limited to coffee, if there’s enough demand we will add some soup making classes, please let us know if you’re interested.

Upcoming Classes

  • How To Make Better Coffee - upgrade your morning coffee

  • Coffee Brewing Methods - percolation Vs immersion

  • Paper, Cloth, and Metal Filters - exploring the differences

Jacu Bird Coffee Tasting 20/01/24 and 27/01/2024

To kick off our classes we will be exploring one of the worlds most expensive and unusual coffees, ‘bird poo coffee’. A single bag of this coffee can fetch up £250, and if you ordered a cup in a cafe you would likely pay £50 and up. The Jacu bird eats the whole coffee berries, digests the sweet pulpy outer layer and excretes the intact coffee beans. The beans are then thoroughly cleaned and dried before roasting. Will this be ‘rapture or crapture’? Join us on our perch to find out.
